Her Royal Highness speaks at the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference
The Arabian Hotel Investment Conference was held at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai from April 25th to 27th and was attended by numerous prominent individuals from the industry. Her Royal Highness was identified by the organisers as a leading catalyst of change. Therefore, Her Royal Highness delivered a speech on how she feels education and the hospitality sector can act as catalysts of change within Saudi Arabia and the steps she is taking personally to bring change. Her Royal Highness emphasised the importance of:
Education and increasing the scope of laws in the GCC concerning development for tourism and hospitality. This is a way of creating stability and opportunity in underprivileged and underserved areas – but this will require developing laws to protect investments, to protect the labour force. The legal structure in the GCC is not there yet.
Her Royal Highness further highlighted that a big problem at the present time is that:
Faith in our fellow person is at very low levels. It is currently fashionable to talk about fake news, and reject narratives based on the comfort of opinion and not the discomfort of thought. We no longer engage, think, consider, or evaluate very much.
However:
The solution starts with the individual, every one of us. Keep your mind open and engage with others based on fact, reason and faith. This doesn’t mean believe everything you’re told, but it does mean give what you see and hear a chance.
Her Royal Highness therefore urged the audience to:
Keep the faith. Engage, think, consider, and evaluate.
During the conference, global hospitality research trends were also unveiled, which are impacting the Middle East. New data was presented from companies including PwC, STR, GRMC Advisory Consulting and Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP.
Her Royal Highness also attended an exclusive dinner party during the event, which was also attended by a select few prominent individuals from the industry. The dinner was part of the Experience By Reif Othman. Chef Reif placed Zuma in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants four years in a row and is often mentioned when people talk about Michelin coming to Dubai. His venue is a unique blend of private apartment, theatre, open kitchen, and boutique restaurant for twelve people only.
